What is my used server worth?
A used server's value comes down to four things: its generation, how it's configured, its condition, and live global demand for that model. There is no fixed price list — values move with the market — but a clear asset list lets a buyer return a firm bulk offer quickly.
The four things that set the value
When we price a server lot, we weigh:
- Generation & model. Newer generations hold more, but popular older models (e.g. Dell R740, HPE DL380 Gen9/10) stay liquid for years.
- Configuration. CPUs, memory, drives, GPUs and NICs inside the chassis often carry more value than the bare server.
- Condition. Working and complete is worth most; for-parts and incomplete units still have value at the component level.
- Demand. Global secondary demand for the specific model on the day — which is why values move.
Why there's no fixed price
Anyone quoting a guaranteed dollar figure sight-unseen is guessing. The honest answer is that a real number comes from your actual list assessed against current demand. That's how a trading desk works — we take title and resell, so the offer reflects what the lot will actually move for.
How to get a fast, firm number
Send a spreadsheet with model numbers, quantities and condition. For servers, include CPU/RAM/drive configuration where you can. The clearer the list, the faster the firm bulk offer.
